The Shipley School girls’ basketball team continued their winning streak in the Friends Schools League as they picked up another win on Tuesday, January 23 at George School, coasting to a 50-36 win.The Gators improved to 14-2 and a perfect 4-0 against their FSL opposition with the win vs. GS. Second year coach, Zach Kancher, can thank the strong senior leadership of Alex King, Rae Goldstein, and Brooke Stokes for guiding his rejuvenated squad into the local spotlight. This week, the Evening Bulletin ranked the Shipley girls’ 8th in their Top 10 list of private school teams. The senior trio has had some help from 6’2” sophomore center, Alex Lennon, who has posted nine double-doubles this season and an even more impressive set of stats in 11.1 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 3.8 bpg, and a 58.2 FG%. Lennon has been able to give inside size to the Shipley squad, as well as an added depth and offensive option that they have not had before. With two weeks left in the regular season, the girls hope to continue their success into the FSL playoffs and claim the Championship title. This weekend, the Shipley girls’ will take on GFS during the annual Community Supper night at 6:30 pm. Shipley Basketball Games vs. GFS and Community Supper
