Crew Freshman Boys' Earn a Bronze Medal; Boys' Junior Eight Qualify for the Scholastic Nationals
Back on their home course, The Shipley School crew team had another outstanding weekend of racing as they competed in the Philadelphia City Championships on the Schuylkill River.

On the boys' side, the freshman boys raced in the Freshman Four event, finishing in third place and earning a bronze medal. The boat consisted of Matt Lisle, Nate Colgan, Carter Brown, Mason Richins, and was coxed by Chris Taylor.

The Junior Eight (Ian Riley, Travis Rosenbluth, Andrew Ramsey, Derek Timm-Brock, Ryan Archer, Anders Engman, Sam Fisher, Miles Doolittle, and Robbie Walzer) had a strong qualifying race and finished 5th out of 18 boats, which qualified them for the finals. In the afternoon final, the boys improved upon their performance and picked up speed. They finished in 4th place overall, just behind Monsignor Bonner, LaSalle, and St. Joseph's Prep. Their respectable finish was enough to qualify them for the Scholastic Nationals, which will be held in Oakridge, Tennessee, at the end of the May.

It proved to be another great weekend of racing. On Saturday, May 10, the Shipley Crew heads south for the St. Andrew's Regatta in Middletown, Delaware, and the novices race Sunday, May 11 on the Schuylkill in the Dr. White Regatta.
