Prior to 1967, there was no Clean Air Council, and the region's air quality was deteriorating at an alarming rate.  The council has played a major role in reversing this harmful trend.

Clean Air Council uses three strategies to fight air pollution and protect public health:

  • Government Oversight:
The Council's attorney's take their role as government watchdogs seriously, making sure environmental laws are properly enforced.
  • Environmental Advocacy:
Clean Air Council's community organizers collaborate with citizens and local groups interested in protecting air quality.
  • Public Education:
The Council's policy analysts produce newsletters, fact sheets, and brochures addressing key air quality issues, and provide expert speakers to schools and community groups.
