Duties required of the volunteer:
The Intern will work with the Director of the Children's Art Festival, focusing on the preparation of art projects and other Festival components.  The Intern will be required to join the Director once a week in one of her children's classes, held at the Art Center.  For a detailed explanation of responsibilities, requirements and objectives, please refer to the handout: Main Line Art Center’s High School Internship Program- Children’s Art Festival Internship.

Special skills that will be helpful for a volunteer to have:
An individual interested in art, art education, community arts and/or art appreciation would enjoy this internship.  Helpful skills and personality traits would include: organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently as well as in a group of peers; ability to interact with teacher and children in a classroom setting; ability to follow directions for assembling children’s art projects and the preparation of these projects, including the possible researching of educational objects; values art and artists, and is friendly, patient and responsible.

Typical hours of employment:
students will schedule 7 - 8 hours between 9am - 9pm

Additional Information:
Year after year during the month of May, the Art Center looks forward to welcoming Senior Project students to work on the Children's Art Festival.  As a non-profit community arts center it is important to have the input and participation of high school students from the community.
