Number of volunteers needed: 4-5
Duties required of the volunteer: We will be working to restore the banks of a tidal wetland project that was established in the 1990's as part of the superfund initiative that seeks to clean up the Schuylkill river. The project has not had the funding to maintain the tidal wetland, to the fullest, which is a vital ecological niche and a great tool for understanding our rivers ecological history.
Special skills that will be helpful for a volunteer to have: Any prior horticultural experience would be helpful, but not necessary. The work will be physically demanding.
Typical hours of employment: 9:30am-4:30pm
Special circumstances ie. travel, security clearance or background check required: Students should allow themselves adequate time to get here in the morning.
Additional Information: Please be prepared with sturdy work boots/footwear and long pants. We will provide work gloves and any other attire, safety gear, etc...necessary for the work. If the student has their own work gloves please bring them. Any questions reagrding the Job scope please contact me. The crew from last year had a great time!
