College Counseling

The College Counseling Program at The Shipley School is designed to provide students with the necessary research and decision making skills and the adult support needed to make wise decisions about their futures.

The emphasis in the program is on enabling students:

  • to understand their accomplishments and values
  • to clarify their goals
  • to search open-mindedly for options for their futures
  • to present themselves effectively in the college admissions process, both in writing and in person.

Respect for and exploration of many possibilities are encouraged through counseling techniques which help students to determine their own futures. The goal of Shipley's program is that each student identify and apply to a range of schools which meet their needs and provide a good match for their talents and interests.
