The Diversity Committee, along with the Multicultural Parents Association, hosted the Community Life Dinner and a Movie on February 2, 2006. Over seventy community members came out to enjoy the film, Mad Hot Ballroom, a moving and entertaining documentary that provides insight into the incredible cultural diversity that is New York City. Told from the perspective of three diverse schools, the movie follows students and teachers as they prepare for a city-wide ballroom dance competition. Families feasted on pizza and popcorn during the movie and enjoyed a ballroom dance demonstration by Shipley Upper School students, Julian Blunt and Michelle Phelan, after the movie.
