Alumni Weekend 2005 An impressive and lively group of African-American/Black alums met with Luis Ottley, Assistant Head of Upper School, and other members of the Diversity Committee during Shipley’s Alumni Weekend 2005. There Ottley shared the results of his on-going research into the lives of Black students at Shipley, past and present, and what the School is doing well or could be doing better or differently for its Black students. Luis presented the clear themes he has uncovered in his interviews with present and former students, faculty and parents. Current African-American/Black students and parents spoke of their recent experiences at Shipley. Information from this exciting and informative discussion will be used as a resource for the Shipley School Diversity Committee.
