Shipley Announces New Head of School Effective July 1, 2019
The Shipley School is proud to announce the appointment of Michael G. Turner as the tenth Head of The Shipley School. Following the robust search process, which included all members of the Shipley community, the Board overwhelmingly supported the Search Committee’s recommendation of Michael.
In January 2018, Shipley's Head of School, Dr. Steve Piltch, announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2018-2019 academic year. Steve began his career as Head of School at Shipley in 1992.
"As I hope you all know, I love my work and our community. However, given the incredibly positive position the School is in because of our successful PAIS reaccreditation and the ongoing implementation of our ambitious strategic plan, I am confident that the time is right both for Shipley and for me."

BJ Glenn ’07: Building a Career on Exposure to Communities Outside His Own
The son of a North Philly cop and South Philly educator, Shipley alumnus Robert "BJ" Glenn III ’07 demonstrated prowess as an athlete and as a student. Knowing the importance of a good education, BJ's parents enrolled him in Kindergarten at Shipley where he soon made his mark in class, and later on Shipley’s playing fields in lacrosse, baseball, and other sports.
