Shipley’s strong athletics program begins with an innovative and foundation-building Physical Education program in preschool. Students build on those foundational skills and get their first taste of interscholastic competition starting in sixth grade. In our Upper School, there are opportunities for each and every student to participate in our championship-caliber varsity and noncompetitive programs, where good sportsmanship is just as important as winning.
Our students don’t have to choose between academic success and sports achievement. They can be good students and good athletes.
We want our athletes to be strong competitors, but we also want them to be good people. As a member of the Friends Schools League, we believe that character education is an important part of playing sports.
The Shipley School is a member of the Friends Schools League. While Shipley is not a Quaker school, it was founded by Quakers and shares much of the philosophy and many of the values of Quaker schools. Learn more about The FSL and the other FSL member schools.
