The admissions process is designed to give you opportunities to become familiar with Shipley and to help us get to know your child and your family. Applications are considered for admission to all grades, Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12.

Upper School Admission Process

  • Application Form

    We encourage prospective parents and students to complete our online application with an application fee of $50. As soon as we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule a parent meeting and interview for your child.
  • Graded Writing Sample

    Students applying to grades 9-12 are asked to submit a graded writing sample from the current school year.
  • Interviews and Tours

    Please call the admissions office to schedule a parent meeting with an admissions director. We look forward to learning more about your child and helping you get to know Shipley during this meeting.

    We will be offering campus tours Monday through Thursday at 3:45 and 4:30 and on Saturdays at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, and 12:00.  To check for tour availability please log into your Shipley account and go to your checklist to access the tour calendar.  If you have not yet submitted an inquiry or started an application you can fill out an inquiry now.
  • Confidential Teacher Recommendation Forms and School Records

    Two confidential Teacher Recommendation Forms, one for English, and one for Mathematics are required of all candidates. We ask families to arrange to have the completed forms sent to Shipley. In order to complete an application file, school records are required for the current and previous 2 school years.
  • Standardized Testing

    Please submit one of the following tests, both testing options offer in-person paper tests as well as secure online at-home testing. If you have concerns about taking this test please contact our Admissions Office.

    A Shipley education is designed to balance a challenging curriculum while giving students the confidence to explore the world around them and foster creative thinking and a love of learning. We recognize the importance of a strong character program balanced with a rigorous academic curriculum; we know that’s why many families are considering a Shipley education for their child. In support of our commitment to positive education and character, we are asking your child to take The Character Skills Snapshot as part of their application to Shipley. Application Timeline

Shipley will begin reviewing applications on December 8, 2021, but applications can be submitted any time before January 7, 2022.  Applications received after the January 8, 2021 deadline will be reviewed on a rolling basis as space allows.

For families who wish to apply for Tuition Assistance, the Tuition Assistance application is due by January 7, 2022, or at the time the application for admissions is submitted. Families can apply for tuition assistance online through School and Student Services (SSS).
