Dr. Gillin because she taught me how to take good notes, challenge myself, and how to effectively learn. She taught me that it's okay to ask for help and I am now comfortable going out of my comfort zone in order to do well.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
I will always remember the hands-on learning and dissections from anatomy class.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
It means persevering through obstacles and doing things that may not make you comfortable in order to succeed or to help others.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
…succeed in all academic endeavors, specifically because I feel that Shipley has taught me how to learn and write effectively.

Reflections on your time at Shipley:
Because Shipley is such a small and comfortable environment, it has helped me to find my voice and be more confident in academic endeavors. For example, I have never really enjoyed math class, but the small class sizes and encouraging teachers allowed me to find more confidence. Additionally, Shipley taught me my love of field hockey because I had never played it prior to 6th grade, and it instantly became one of my favorite activities.
I think the rigorous courses at Shipley definitely prepared me for college. I can confidently say that I am not afraid of college courses because I know Shipley has prepared me to take good notes, write good essays, and ask for help when I need it.
