What is your favorite part about being an athlete at Shipley? 

My favorite part about being on a team is the bond that I have with my teammates. It is so important for me to have a team that supports me on my best and worst-performing days.  Having a team that supports me on my worst days is important for me because it lets me move on and become a better athlete rather than focusing on the mistake I made.

What is your favorite part about being in the musical for Shipley? 

My favorite part about being in the musical is seeing the progress being made toward the show. It is very impressive to see how quickly we are getting the hang of the songs and the dances and I'm excited to see how the show turns out. 

What other activities do you do outside of school? 

Outside of school, I play golf and lacrosse. I ski, play the piano, babysit, and I do community service.

What made you want to do both athletics and the musical at Shipley? 

A couple of things made me want to do both athletics and musicals. As a member of the student council, I am always working on being a more well-rounded person. I have been an athlete my whole life, but I wanted to do something different this year. My mom used to do musicals when she was younger and she has been begging me to do it for a few years so this year, I decided to try it. Having to complete two sports credits enabled me to participate because I had the winter free, so I had the time to do the musical. 

How do you find the balance between all of your activities at Shipley and outside of School? 

I feel like most of my life is taken up by Shipley's activities. I am involved in many things at school and on top of classes, it is a lot. I think the balance is weighted pretty heavily toward Shipley, but I would not consider that a bad thing. 

When you came to Shipley did you consider yourself an athlete or a theater person? What do you consider yourself now? How did Shipley help shape the person you are today?  

When I came to Shipley, I would have been embarrassed to say I was in the theater program. But now, I'm proud of it and all the work I have put in.
