Distinguished Alumni Award - Presented to Whitney Stengel Kellett '89 May 3, 2019

After graduating from Shipley in 1989, and earning a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia, Whitney Stengel Kellett built a career in Information Technology, with a specialty in strategic planning and execution. She has held technology positions in a variety of industries, including financial services, global transportation, manufacturing, clinical research, commercial real estate, insurance, private equity, energy, and utilities. Whitney is currently Chief Information Officer of Aqua America, where she is responsible for all Information Technology staff, applications, and services for the second-largest, publicly traded water and wastewater utility based in the U.S. with operating subsidiaries serving approximately 3 million people in eight states. In 2018, she was a finalist for Philadelphia CIO of the Year in the Enterprise category.

Whitney is part of a four-generation Shipley family. She values the compassion and broad thinking fostered by a Shipley education, and the School’s emphasis on the virtue of giving back. Outside of her work at Aqua America, Whitney gives back on a regular basis, serving on the Board of Trustees at The Woodlynde School, as a member of the Forum of Executive Women, and recently as co-chair of a $10M capital campaign for St. David’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA.

In recognition of Whitney’s role as a leader in her profession and her commitment to volunteerism, the Alumni Council has awarded her the Distinguished Alumni Award.
