2023 Distinguished Alumni Award Presented to Helen Fisher ’63, PhD

Dr. Helen Fisher’s groundbreaking research on the brain systems associated with romantic love, attachment, rejection, sex drive, love addiction, and partnership happiness has garnered international recognition. She has authored six best-selling books on the science of romantic love, attachment, adultery, divorce, and the evolution and future of human family life. Additionally, her work on the neurochemistry of team building, selling, innovation, and leadership, based on fMRI scans and data collected from her questionnaire, the Fisher Temperament Inventory, has been a pioneering contribution to the field of social neuroscience.  
Helen’s innovative and insightful contributions to the fields of anthropology, psychology, and neuroscience have led to features on national and international television, radio, print, and podcasts. She is a TED All-Star with over 21 million views of her TED talks. In 2015, she was named one of the "Fifteen Most Amazing Women in Science" by Business Insider.  
Helen’s achievements exemplify the academic rigor of a Shipley education and the intellectual curiosity it instills in students. In recognition of her accomplishments and contributions to the field, the Alumni Council is honored to present The Shipley School Distinguished Alumni Award to Helen Fisher, Class of 1963.
