2023 Young Alumni Award Presented to Alicia Roth Weigel ’08

Alicia Roth Weigel is a Forbes and New York Times published change agent, working tirelessly to improve the landscape for marginalized populations in the Southern United States and around the world.

By day, Alicia serves as the Pride Fund's lead partner in Texas, raising and investing venture capital into LGBTQIA-led businesses nationwide. By night, Alicia advocates for the rights of intersex people like herself. Her contributions to the field of social justice have not gone unnoticed; in addition to various White House invitations, Alicia’s work will be featured in a film directed by Julie Cohen, and a book published by Harper Collins, both to be released later this year.

Alicia's dedication to advocacy is not limited to intersex rights. As a member of the City of Austin's Human Rights Commission, the Community Advisory Board for Texas Health Action, and the Health Equity Policy Council for Central Health, she has contributed to legislation aimed at reducing social determinants of health.

Alicia's passion and dedication to improving the lives of marginalized communities makes us proud to call her a Shipley alum, and we look forward to seeing the impact she continues to make in the years to come. In recognition of her achievements in the field of social justice and activism, the Alumni Council presents The Shipley School Young Alumni Award to Alicia Roth Weigel, Class of 2008.
