Upper School Students Earn Top Honors at DECA Competition
On Monday, November 30, over fifty Shipley students competed in the District 11 DECA competition in King of Prussia. DECA, as stated on their website, prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. 417 students from 10 schools competed in individual or team events, each including a written test and a role-play session with local business leaders.
Earning top individual marks for Shipley were: Isabella Scardapane - 1st place and Top Role Play, Principles of Hospitality and Tourism Grace Martin - 1st place and Top Role Play, Apparel and Accessories Marketing Caroline DiNome - 1st place, Hotel and Lodging Management Nick Wojtelwicz - 2nd place and Top Role Play, Sports and Entertainment Marketing Claudia Menziuso - 2nd place, Apparel and Accessories Marketing Stela Tong - 2nd place, Human Resource Management Dana Hermann- 3rd place, Principles of Finance Aly Rubenstein - 3rd place, Principles of Marketing Eric Yang - 3rd place, Business Finance Services Rachel Menziuso - 3rd place, Hotel and Lodging Management
Earning top individual marks for Shipley were: Will Field and Addison Leavy - 1st place, Top Test Average, and Top Role Play, Marketing Communications Management Ally Schoenberg and Avery Yecies - 1st place and Top Role Play, Travel and Tourism Marketing Management Jasmine Powell and Nadine Shawky - 3rd place and Top Role Play, Marketing Communications Management Hannah Engelman and Elizabeth Durham- 3rd place, Buying and Merchandising Management Sophomore Dana Herman also took third place in the Fashion Show.
Students who place in the top seven of each individual event and top five of each team event qualify for the State competition. Eleven Shipley students qualified for States:
