The appreciation for creativity and acceptance of the individual. The faculty and staff are wonderful people to work with: supportive, kind, and available. Shipley is a school in service for the benefit of those less fortunate.What inspired you to choose education?
The love of working with children. I’m inspired to provide different approaches for a child to learn.What is your favorite lesson, project, or activity? Why?
Introducing Artist of the Month, where social studies, oral language/vocabulary development, spatial visualization development and the exploration of new concepts, cooperation, and problem-solving skills are addressed all in one lesson! My favorite artist? Why, Jackson Pollock of course!
Where else can a child be allowed to freely splatter paint while trying their hand at painting like Pollock?What is your year-end goal for every student who walks into your classroom?

I am married to a former Shipley Colleague (1980-82). I have three children and a grandson.... and I’m only 29!Do you have any pets?
Pets?! It’s like a farm at our home! Ella, a mini-labradoodle puppy, Patches the cat, Ovo the lop-eared rabbit, and Mr. Ponchez the gecko.

BJ Glenn ’07: Building a Career on Exposure to Communities Outside His Own
The son of a North Philly cop and South Philly educator, Shipley alumnus Robert "BJ" Glenn III ’07 demonstrated prowess as an athlete and as a student. Knowing the importance of a good education, BJ's parents enrolled him in Kindergarten at Shipley where he soon made his mark in class, and later on Shipley’s playing fields in lacrosse, baseball, and other sports. But it was at daily recess at age 6 when he discovered a sport that perfectly blended his budding speed and agility with a strong leg: soccer.Read More -
