Teachers Who Make an Impact
Shipley is all I have ever known, and I will be forever grateful to my parents for making the decision to send me here in Pre-Kindergarten. Since Lower School, I have known Shipley was special. Each teacher I had made an impact on me, and the memories I have only demonstrate how important they are. From TGIF dance parties in third grade, to fifth grade laurels, the way Shipley teachers teach is not only unique, but extremely impactful. The community that these teachers have helped Shipley build are one of the many ways in which Shipley has impacted my life.

Preparation for Life
Shipley has prepared me for college and for my life because of the emphasis it has put on being successful, along with the amazing community I have been able to be a part of because of it. I have had so many opportunities through Shipley, including going to Florida for the International Career Development Conference, the Action Research conference at the University of Pennsylvania, and so much more. These opportunities pushed me to take risks because I wanted to be a part of them, and I wouldn't have been able to if it weren't for Shipley.

Compassionate Participation in the World
I would say my most memorable experience at Shipley was the Will Trippley Tutoring Program. As one of the first freshman to ever take part in the program, the idea of tutoring kids and being with a large group of upper classmen was initially intimidating. I then started to spend time with Brianna, the young student I tutored, and my reservations disappeared. Every Thursday I spent with Brianna molded my experience at Shipley into what it was. She was inspiring in so many ways and I learned so much in the four years I spent teaching her. Programs like Will Trippley are one of many things that make Shipley so special; they not only help our school’s community but others as well.

Plans for Fall 2015
In the fall of 2015 I will be attending Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. During my time at Colgate I hope to get involved in a few club sport teams and hopefully do some service, which is something I am really passionate about.
