Dr. Ken Ginsburg Speaks to Eleventh Graders and Families

Dr. Ken Ginsburg, a nationally-recognized and award winning author and pediatrician, spoke to eleventh grade students and families on April 11 as part of their Social, Emotional, and Ethical Development (SEED) curriculum. His talk focused on the content of his most recent book, Raising Kids to Thrive: Balancing Love with Expectations and Protection with Trust.

His research over the last two decades has focused on facilitating youth to develop their own solutions to social problems and to teach clinicians how to better serve them. Dr. Ginsburg has more than 125 publications, received over 30 awards recognizing his research, clinical skills, or advocacy efforts. He has been named one of Philadelphia magazine’s “Top Docs” nine times. To advocate for parents’ critical role in raising resilient children and teens, he has appeared on CNN, NPR, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The CBS morning show, FOX and Friends and ABC, NBC, and CBS Nightly News programs.

To conclude his talk, a panel of Shipley students discussed their thoughts, weighted in on the strategies which rang true to them, and added a few points relative to their own experiences.
