Shipley Receives 2016 Site Greening Award

The Shipley School was recently honored by the Lower Merion Township Environmental Advisory Council as the recipient of the 2016 Go for the Green Site Greening Award.

The Site Greening Award is presented to a property which has been enhanced through greening efforts including planting of trees, shrubs, and other plants, the reduction in impervious paving, or other ecological and aesthetical improvements to the outdoor environment.

The new Shipley Commons and Learning and Research Center excelled in improving its environmental impact in five areas: energy use, water use, human health, building materials, and land use.

Brian Hoppy, Chair of the Environmental Advisory Council, presented the award to Shipley’s Director of Physical Plant, Robert Meals, at an awards ceremony on Thursday, May 12 at Appleford Estate in Villanova.
