Meet Ellie Rampulla '17

Ellie Rampulla ’17
Currently Attending:
University of Pennsylvania
Years at Shipley: 4

Learning Lessons for Life
In first grade, I learned to be creative during recess, when my friends and I worked tirelessly to create homes for fairies that we believed lived on campus. When I returned to Shipley ten years later, my very first class was Ms. Jaffe’s English class. I was stunned because every single student was just as engaged and enthusiastic, and was not afraid to express themselves. It was in Ms. Jaffe’s class - and in many others - that I learned to advocate for myself and be confident in my thoughts and opinions. Miss Ku also taught me that the objective of being a student is not to get perfect grades. Instead, the objective is to immerse yourself in each lesson and learn as much as possible. Learning is about stopping, smelling the roses, and really throwing yourself into what you do.

Most Memorable Experience
My most memorable experience was receiving my own diploma from my Little Acorn during my last All-School Assembly. That moment made me realize that my most important steps towards personal growth took place at Shipley. I spent my first day of school in a kindergarten classroom in Shipley’s Lower School, and I celebrated my achievements over the past 13 years with many of the same people I started with, on my last day of high school. Shipley helped form me into the hard-working and intellectually curious person that I am today. I am so grateful to be part of the Shipley family.

Plans for Fall 2017
I will attend the University of Pennsylvania, where I will major in International Relations and Economics.

Future Ambition
Travelling has always been a passion of mine; it has certainly opened my mind and made me into the person that I am today. It is through my travels that I have developed a strong interest in international relations, which is a career path that I am very excited to explore. I love to solve problems and interact with others.
