How Shipley Shaped Me Shipley has prepared me to not only succeed but also thrive in college. Over the years Shipley gave me a fantastic foundation in regards to education and showed me what hard work truly is. The rigorous academics are challenging but so rewarding. The work at times is tough, but the incredible teachers are there to help and support you along the way. Shipley focuses on personal development as much as education, which truly separates Shipley students from others. Shipley focuses on promoting both the strengths and weaknesses of students, allowing students to understand how to step outside of their comfort zone, both in and out of the classroom. There are so many opportunities where students can take risks and discover their true potential. For me, this risk was joining the nationally-revered varsity soccer team. I had not played soccer since middle school, and I took a risk by trying out my junior year. I made the team and it proved to be one of the best decisions I made in high school. For others, this risk comes in different forms, but Shipley has a risky choice for every student and supports them to the point where they can take that risk and understand their potential. While developing each student, the messages of hard work, humility, and compassion are constantly interwoven in our daily lives, and in the end, Shipley modestly boasts humble and incredible students ready to make a difference in the world. A Shipley education a gift, and I feel blessed to have had this opportunity for so long.
Most Memorable Experience My most memorable experience at Shipley was winning the Friends Schools League Baseball Championship for the 3rd year in a row. It was an overwhelming moment where for a final time in my Shipley career my hard work paid off, and I was able to accomplish my goals. The moment sticks out to me because of my love for baseball, but it is only one of many times that Shipley gave me opportunities to succeed as long as I had the dedication and a strong work ethic.
Plans for Fall 2017 In the Fall I will be attending Davidson College in North Carolina.
Future Ambition My future ambition is to become a surgeon, with a focus on working with children.
