On Saturday, October 12, Shipley's Boy's Junior Varsity Soccer team earned the title of champions, finishing in first place at the Friends Schools League JV tournament. 

After winning rounds against Moorestown Friends, Westtown, and Friends' Central, the Gators went into overtime against Academy of the New Church, clinching the championship with a buzzer-beating goal.

“In each of our four games the team was challenged, but the boys always found a way to rise to the occasion, with contributions from players up and down the roster," said Coach Matthew Wellenbach. "The defense played spectacularly, not conceding a goal all tournament, and we won the championship game with an exciting golden goal in the last minute of overtime. The team had been looking forward to the tournament all season and had picked up the intensity in training to prepare for it. It was great to see that hard work rewarded with a victory.”
