Senior Brooke McCarthy Named Main Line Student of the Week
The Shipley School is pleased to announce senior Brooke McCarthy has been named Main Line Student of the Week for the week of October 12.
McCarthy, an editor of The Beacon, Shipley's student-run newspaper, said to the Main Line Times, "Shipley encourages everyone to pursue their passions through both the atmosphere and attitude of the campus and community and in concrete ways with the flexibility of scheduling. It is not the kind of place where the student-athletes are celebrated and everyone else is pushed aside. Shipley recognizes, supports, and celebrates artists, musicians, writers, actors, and students with all types of unconventional and diverse interests equally."

Lower School’s Tina Wattles Retires After Nearly 20 Years

BJ Glenn ’07: Building a Career on Exposure to Communities Outside His Own
The son of a North Philly cop and South Philly educator, Shipley alumnus Robert "BJ" Glenn III ’07 demonstrated prowess as an athlete and as a student. Knowing the importance of a good education, BJ's parents enrolled him in Kindergarten at Shipley where he soon made his mark in class, and later on Shipley’s playing fields in lacrosse, baseball, and other sports.
