Supporting Mental Health at Shipley

Shipley’s pursuit of educational excellence incorporates a comprehensive approach to student well-being and mental health, utilizing a range of protective skill building and individualized support strategies. The School’s efforts align with recommendations made in the U.S. Surgeon General’s 2021 public health advisory on teen mental health.

SEED Program

Dedicated classroom time PreK through Grade 12 provides a sequential curriculum devoted to the Social, Emotional, and Ethical Development (SEED) of our students, who gain skills and knowledge to support their mental health.

Mental Health Screenings

All 6th -12th grade students are screened annually for depression and anxiety. The collected data have spurred interventions to address widespread, grade-level issues, as well as to identify individuals who need support.

Counselors, nurses, and academic support teachers across all three divisions provide students with one-to-one support.
