Encore Clubs

Encore Clubs offer opportunities for learning and discovering new passions beyond the typical school day. A rich array of developmentally appropriate clubs is offered to students in preschool through Grade 5. Clubs meet weekly and are offered Monday-Friday. Students are picked up from classrooms and provided a snack before clubs begin. There are three sessions during the year, fall, winter, and spring.

Time: Clubs run from 3:15-4:15 p.m.

Cost: The registration fee for all clubs is $200 per session. Please see the registration form for specific pricing information.

Spring 2024 Encore Clubs

MONDAYS

Bombardment and Sports Fun (Grades 1-3): Ms. Vengels and Ms. Whelan
Join us for extra sports fun! Dodging flying balls, kickball with all your might, basketball, volleyball, scooters, and more! Let’s have some fun! 

Sculpture Lab (Grades 1-2): Ms. Clinkscales
Students will explore, discuss, and practice sculpture-making techniques and practices to create works of art. From recycled materials to plaster and more, each project will involve observation and creative problem-solving. Students will also collaborate and learn more about art history and artist references. Projects covered: Abstract Wire Sculpture, Cardboard and Plaster, Name Sculpture, and Collaborative Mini Sculpture Challenges.

TUESDAYS

Dance Club (Grades 1-3): Ms. Way
Get on your dancing shoes! Dance Club is an inclusive and fun way for students to express themselves through the art of dance. Each Dance Club meeting will start with a warm-up, then we will explore various dance styles, learn simple choreography, and have fun while building confidence and coordination. Open to all skill levels. Dance Club is where friendships are forged and the joy of dance is celebrated!

STEAM Club (Grades PreK-2 ): Ms. Schafer
Each week students will read a different fairy tale and then complete a STEAM activity based on the story. The activities will be designed to inspire curiosity and innovative thinking. Students will work in small groups to encourage collaboration and cooperation. For example, students will design a new bed for Goldilocks, build a house that can’t be blown down by the Big Bad Wolf, create a bridge that can hold the Billy Goats Gruff, and much more.

WEDNESDAYS

Bombardment (Grades 4-5 ONLY): Mrs. Early & Mr. Kellett

Sewing and Crafts (Grades 2-5): Ms. Leschinsky
A typical afternoon in Sewing Club consists of a lot of sewing and a lot of fun! We will learn how to hand sew and then apply what we’ve learned to make fabulous projects. Enrollment in this club will be decided through a lottery system. You must register for this club to enter the lottery.  Refer to the 1/26 email from the Lower School for more information.

Tennis (Grades 2-5): Mr. Caddle

Yoga (Grades PreK-2): Mrs. Wattles
Children will be introduced to various yoga techniques focusing on basic strengthening, toning, and balancing skills that promote self-control, improved focusing, better coping skills, and coordination.

Wizard World of Engineering using LEGO Materials (Grades K-5):
Venture into the world of Harry Potter using LEGO! Visit Diagon Alley, play a game of Quidditch, and duel the evil Lord Voldemort. Hone your magical skills while learning about advanced Muggle (STEM) concepts. 

THURSDAYS

Minecraft Engineering using LEGO Materials (Grades K-5):
Venture into the world of Minecraft in our unique LEGO experience. Get ready to build your base, craft your tools, use your Minecraft to harvest raw resources, and battle to stop the Ender Dragon from ending the world. Explore the endless possibilities of LEGO with a trained Play-Well instructor. 

Young Rembrandts (Grades PreK-5)
What do a winter owl, unicorn, city perspective, and silly snowman have in common? They are all brand new lessons that our club students will draw with us this winter session! No experience is necessary, and all the supplies are provided. Sign up your child today for our fun educational drawing club!

FRIDAYS

Sports Card Club (Grades 3-5): Mr. Wareikis
Sports card trading club IS BACK! Come share some of your sports card collection and have fun trading! The club will include tips for trading, how to look up value cards with a database, organization and overall care, the different types of grading services, another trip to ‘Carl’s Cards’, and a whole bunch more! 

Shining Knights Chess
(Grades 1-5)
Whether you are new to the game, learning to push pawns for the first time, or have played in numerous tournaments and want to sharpen your skills, come to Shining Knights Chess Club! We have trained numerous state champions and national trophy winners. We have trained even more kids to enjoy the game so that they can spend hours playing with friends and family. So, whether you want to win games in your living room against your parents or win tournaments in other states, come join us and learn how to play chess or play better chess!
