July Book Releases from Shipley Alumnae Authors

Echoes from Wuhan: The Past as Prologue by Gretchen Dykstra ’66 tells the dramatic, fast-paced story of a naïve and adventuresome young American woman and how she navigated — well and not so well — the complexities of cross-cultural confusions and clashes as a teacher in China long ago.

Fellowship Point by Alice Elliott Kirby Dark ’71 is the masterful story of a lifelong friendship between two very different women with shared histories and buried secrets, tested in the twilight of their lives, set across the arc of the 20th century. Shipley alumni are invited to a special Alumni Book Club for a conversation with Alice Elliott Kirby Dark ’71 on September 14, 2022. Visit www.shipleyschool.org/alumnievents for more information!

Roll Red Roll by Nancy Schwartzman ’93 is an incisive narrative about a teen rape case that divided a Rust Belt town, exposing the hostile and systemic undercurrents that enable sexual violence, and spotlighting ways to make change. The book contains new research, interviews, and insights compiled by Nancy after the release of her documentary film by the same name.
