Collectibles

Need to create more space in your closet, basement, or china cabinet? Support our community’s commitment to sustainability, let go of hoarder’s guilt, and raise money for our school by donating quality items from your home to Shipley Collectibles! Collectibles is a “pop-up” thrift shop at Shipley Shops every October that donates 100% of its revenues to Shipley. Donations are tax-deductible and accepted year-round during business hours at Brownell House on Shipley’s Upper Campus. Volunteers are also available to pick-up small items left at the reception desk of the Lower School.

The typical patron of Shipley Collectibles is a discriminating shopper looking for a great deal on high-quality antique, handmade, and/or designer items.Items should be in like-new or gently used condition. They should be goods that the person donating knows to be of some value. Below, you will find a general list of desired items. Please know that this list cannot possibly cover all of the things we would love to see coming through the door! Donors should use their own taste and discretion in contributing. Sometimes you may know that something you own is valuable, but you just don't like it or have use for it in your life (i.e. seldom-used wedding gifts, inherited tableware, etc.). Donors to Collectibles can feel good knowing that there are other supporters of Shipley who will genuinely appreciate, make use of, and delight in such things.

Please remember that all donations are tax-deductible. If you don't want or know how to give a market value to your donations and would still like a receipt, the Collectibles Committee would be happy to estimate their value for you. Members of the Committee are also available to make in-home visits to donors wishing to give away a significant number of pieces, so that we can pack up and remove any appropriate items at no hassle to the donor.
While we gratefully acknowledge any gesture of support, there are items we cannot accept. We cannot store or manage large pieces of furniture or art. Anything that cannot be picked up by one person and transported in a standard-sized station wagon or SUV will not work at Collectibles. We also politely decline the donation of home electronics, appliances, fitness machinery and equipment, paperback books, and perishables.

Thank you for choosing to find new homes for your lovely things! Your generosity makes Collectibles possible.
