At every grade level, Shipley students have the opportunity to participate in music instruction and performance ensembles. There is a place for each child to make music at Shipley, whether they are a beginner or a virtuoso, and Shipley is committed to making these opportunities available to all students with minimal financial impact.
Through the Paddle Raise at this year’s Spring Auction, we are seeking support for two specific areas of Shipley’s instrumental music program.
- Create a “stable” of school-owned Lower School instruments, eliminating this added cost to families until the Middle School years when music study becomes more serious and committed. The goal is to purchase over thirty new instruments for a total cost of $45,000.
- Maintain the integrity of Shipley’s handbells with a total refurbishment. This process, which will place them in like-new condition, ready for many more years of dependable performance, has a price tag of $10,000.
Shipley’s curriculum focuses on making strong musicians out of each student. No matter the point of entry, each music student at Shipley will be challenged to take creative risk and grow in profound ways. Your support will help ensure that this experience is of the highest quality for every student.
