The Shipley Enrichment Camp, founded in 1985, is designed to offer a balanced program of arts and athletics to boys and girls ages 5 – 12. Campers spend part of their day participating in soccer, kickball, gaga, and other games in a non-competitive environment and the other portion of the day experiencing ceramics, drama, music, arts and crafts, and sewing. Campers also enjoy Xploration, a science activity that includes experiments, problem solving, stream exploration, and scavenger hunts. Twice each week the campers may choose activities for the afternoon based on their individual interests. Campers are kept active and engaged at a pace that allows them to enjoy the simple pleasures, both indoors and outdoors, of their summer camp experience.
We are unplugged at Enrichment Camp. A strong sense of community is fostered, as our staff strives to get to know each camper individually. Our emphasis is on the relationships the campers can build with their new and old friends, both campers and staff. As a result, children feel a strong sense of belonging and respect.
Campers swim daily at the Bryn Mawr College indoor pool. Aftercare is available daily from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. All of our Activity Directors are experienced teachers. Our counselors are high school and college students and many of them attended Shipley Enrichment Camp. We have a 5:1 camper/staff ratio and our average enrollment is 75 -100 campers per week. All materials for our programs are supplied by the camp.
Our facilities on the Lower School campus include all of the classrooms in the Academic building
with two art rooms, an artificial turf field, brand new playgrounds and ample air-conditioned indoor space to make Shipley Enrichment Camp a pleasant place for any child to spend the summer.
