Amanda Abney Buchanan ’99 Opens the FOCUS Center
Amanda Abney Buchanan ’99 and her husband, Devon Buchanan, opened The FOCUS Center in Clifton Heights, PA. The FOCUS Center is a multi-use facility, specializing in youth and family programs, classes, and special events.
FOCUS stands for "Finding Ourselves Creates Unlimited Success" and the Center is home to the F.O.C.U.S. Youth Network, which provides innovative educational and recreational activities for youth and their families, centered around three main pillars: Wellness and Nutrition Education, Character Development, and College and Career Readiness.
"My husband and I are so proud and excited to launch The FOCUS Center," commented Buchanan. "We look forward to making an impact in our community!"

BJ Glenn ’07: Building a Career on Exposure to Communities Outside His Own
The son of a North Philly cop and South Philly educator, Shipley alumnus Robert "BJ" Glenn III ’07 demonstrated prowess as an athlete and as a student. Knowing the importance of a good education, BJ's parents enrolled him in Kindergarten at Shipley where he soon made his mark in class, and later on Shipley’s playing fields in lacrosse, baseball, and other sports.
