Who was your most influential teacher and why?
This is a difficult question for me as I had someone at every level of my Shipley
life that has been extremely impactful - so because of that I'm going to mention my top three. No one advanced my learning and mindset more than Ms. Small. She was a fantastic teacher and I remember her seventh grade English class very well. As a mentor and friend, I can say the two years I spent with both Mr. Amidon and Mr. Stetina I very much liked. I liked the way they ran their classes and how they always made themselves available even on a personal level. Mr. Stetina specifically I felt comfortable going to if I had a personal problem outside of school and I value his time and opinion on all topics.

What was your favorite class and why?
Either 8th or 12th grade history. I say this because they were both taught by my favorite teachers, and the curriculum of the 8th grade class was great.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
To me, it means putting other people first. And when you do something for someone else, think about why you are and how it makes you feel. I believe that doing something nice for someone is one of the best feelings I've ever felt.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
Achieve academic excellence at the next level as well as make lifelong friends.

How has Shipley prepared you to be your best self and do your best work?
With the best teaching and some flexibility. Teachers are always understanding if you let them know in advance that you need some time. They are always there for you and care about their students.

How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
I would say the Club and Sports requirements force people to try new things with new people. This can be hard for some students, but many come out of it with new friends and a positive experience.

Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it has meant to you.
I attended Shipley since 6th grade and am leaving with memories and people I’ll never forget. As my senior year comes to a close, I think about what I'm leaving behind as I'm off to North Carolina to progress in my academic career. Now it's time I reflect on the classes, activities, friends, and teacher relationships I made during my time at The Shipley School.

In sixth grade, I made the switch to Shipley from a very small private school in the middle of Gladwyne. It didn't take long for me to feel embraced by the Shipley community. Seventh grade was one of my most important and memorable years at The Shipley School. Not only did
I meet my friends for years to come but also some teachers I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Ms. Small and Mr. Stetina made an immediate impact on my time at Shipley as well as my learning and overall happiness. I truly enjoyed my time in those two classes. The curriculum was interesting and the classes were engaging. Eighth grade was another enjoyable year. I was an important athlete playing both baseball and basketball.

Freshman year was a big transition, I adapted normally and met some incredible teachers like Mr. Frankel and Ms. Ingram. During sophomore year, COVID hit and then things took a turn as we had no choice but to result to remote learning. Junior year was the most stressful work year I had, but was still an exciting year. I met Mr. Amidon, my favorite teacher to this day. Senior year by far was my favorite. The teachers were relaxed yet productive and we had more freedom.

Shipley gave me many opportunities I haven't even mentioned that gave me an edge. An example is community service. In Middle School once a month we spent a day doing community service, and this was helpful in realizing the way the world is outside of the Main Line. We also
are required to finish 40 hours of service by Senior year as well as a Senior Service Project. Opportunities like this do a great job of preparing me for what's to come in my
future. I couldn't be more thankful for my time at Shipley and for what Shipley did to
prepare me for the rest of my life.
