Who was your most influential teacher and why?
My most influential teacher was probably Dr. Brandao. Having her as my teacher in Honors Engineering Design helped me expand my creativity and incorporate empathy into my ideas, which is a crucial aspect of design. She helped me grow as a student by helping me gain confidence, and she inspires me with her commitment to improvement and learning from mistakes.
What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was Astronomy with Mr. Clement. I have always loved space, and I was able to explore my interests by taking this class. The class was engaging, and I enjoyed being able to participate and share my ideas.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
One of my most memorable experiences at Shipley was Super Saturday. This event is always very exciting because you get to cheer on Shipley with your friends during the night game. There is also always food during the day, which is fun to get with friends.
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
To me, it means having the strength and bravery to take risks while practicing kindness, integrity, and patience in doing so.
How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
Shipley encouraged me to take risks by creating a community that I felt comfortable in. The environment was very supportive, which helped me step out of my comfort zone and try new things.
Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
During my time at Shipley, I had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, from planning events to playing in the school orchestra. I was able to forge many friendships within these activities, but also outside of them. Being such a tight-knit community, these friendships have made my time at Shipley extremely memorable and fun.
