Who was your most influential teacher and why?
I have two. The first is Mr. Frankel, who encouraged me and taught me how to advocate for myself. He helped me to build confidence in not just math but all of my subjects, and was always there for me when I needed a laugh. The second is Mr. Clement, who taught me new study techniques, grit, and resilience that helped me push harder in my academics, despite feeling discouraged. Both Mr. Frankel and Mr. Clement were always available to meet whenever I needed help, and I am thankful for the opportunity to have had both of these outstanding teachers.
What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class at Shipley was the Great Books senior English course taught by Mr. Maurer. In addition to reading classic and entertaining books, I enjoyed the in-depth class discussions and Mr. Maurer's commitment to understanding and listening to each student's perspective.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable Shipley experience was traveling to England with the Shipley soccer teams in August 2023. I had the opportunity to travel to many cities and experience soccer in a way that I would have never had in the US. It was amazing to travel with my friends and coaches to a foreign country for the first time. The bonds I created with my teammates and coaches served us well in our season, and I was able to create new friendships. This trip allowed me to push outside my comfort zone, and I am beyond thankful for this amazing experience.
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
The phrase Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing helped me understand the importance of trying new things, even if I was nervous, or it was hard, or there was a chance I could fail. Before my high school career, I had never run track, taken a photograph, written for a newspaper, coached a soccer team, or traveled to a foreign country. Even though I was nervous to try all of these new things, I learned to give myself grace and be okay with not being perfect the first time. If I hadn't tried any of these things listed, I would not have found some of my best friends or discovered new passions. I am eternally grateful that Shipley provided opportunities for me to be brave.

Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
If I hadn't come to Shipley in 6th grade, I wouldn't have met all of the amazing people I did or discovered some of my passions that I know I will continue beyond Shipley. I am forever grateful for my time spent here and will take what I have learned into the next chapters of my life.
