Each year during Alumni Reunion Weekend, two giving awards are presented: the Reunion Giving Award (highest amount contributed) and the Class of 1948 Margaret Bailey Speer Award (highest total participation by a reunion class).
This year, the Class of 1963 earned the Reunion Giving Award in celebration of their 60th reunion, with a total class contribution of $96,641.90. The Class of 1983, in honor of their 40th reunion, earned the Class of 1948 Margaret Bailey Speer Award with a total class participation of 40.6%.
Congratulations and thank you to the Classes of 1963 and 1983 for demonstrating such generosity and leadership in honor of their milestone reunion years!
At the start of the Friday night dinner celebrating the Classes of 1973 through 1948 on May 5, 2023, Director of Philanthropy Josie Burri gave remarks regarding a new giving opportunity at the School.
Established on the occasion of their 50th Reunion by the Class of 1972, the Shipley Open-Arms Resource Fund (S.O.A.R. Fund) supports full access for Shipley students with high financial need.
The S.O.A.R. Fund will not only benefit the students and families who draw on it each year, but also has the potential to foster a sense of equity and belonging by allowing all members of the Shipley community to participate in building the fund, according to their ability. Its existence and continual promotion will remind alumni, families, and students that we can all be part of making the full Shipley experience accessible to everyone.
Examples of the expenses the S.O.A.R. Fund will help cover include school uniforms, home internet access, experiential learning (i.e., trips), prom attire, and book fair purchases. Please visit the S.O.A.R. Fund online giving page if you wish to contribute. Thank you!
The Shipley School is a private, coeducational day school for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students, located in Bryn Mawr, PA. Through our commitment to educational excellence, we develop within each student a love of learning and a desire for compassionate participation in the world.
