What is your favorite club, activity, or co-curricular? Why?
My club/activity is Admissions Ambassadors because it’s a space where I can meet new people, talk with new students, and share my story with prospective families.

What is your favorite class or who is your favorite teacher? Why?
It is a tie between my Independent Study with Dr. Brandao and World Religions with Mr. Addis. Both classes are incredibly unique because they are discussion-centered, self-driven, and interdisciplinary. They are taught by fantastic, highly engaging teachers who are truly passionate about the subject matter.

Tell us about a time you were encouraged or inspired to take a risk at Shipley.
During my sophomore year, I used a free period to approach Mr. Clement, the Anatomy & Neuroscience teacher. I wanted to learn more about neuroscience and decided to ask him a few probing questions. This quickly turned into a passionate conversation about a number of neuroscience-related topics. That single conversation inspired me to conduct my own neuroscience research and explore cognitive science, which I now plan to major in during college!

What is something you think is important for prospective families and students to know about Shipley?
Shipley’s rare student-to-faculty ratio enables everyone to build truly meaningful relationships with their teachers. This close-knit environment fosters curiosity and makes daily life here both exciting and memorable.

Advice for new students.
Do as much as you can (even if that means spreading yourself a little thin at first)! There are so many clubs to join, sports to try, and people to meet. Jumping into everything will expand your horizons and open up incredible opportunities.
