Coding: Build Your Own App

Have you ever wanted to make your own websites and apps? In this hands-on coding and tech camp, you’ll learn the skills of a coder and the mindset of an entrepreneur through building apps - your own app and also an app for local nonprofits. You’ll build apps and games and work on real web apps. Previous students have been covered in multiple local news outlets for apps they've built for homeless shelters, veterinarians, and local climate nonprofits! 

Students will need Chromebooks or Laptops.

Theater & Improv (Yes And)

Do you love acting and want to learn how to improvise like a pro? Our Theater and Improv (Yes And) class is the perfect place to start! In this course, students will explore the fundamentals of improvisational theater and learn how to think on their feet. You'll develop your acting skills through fun exercises and games, as well as learn the art of "Yes And" – a technique that encourages collaboration and creativity. Whether you're a seasoned actor or a beginner, this class will help you develop your confidence and creativity on stage. 

We'll also get to do some stage design. No previous experience is necessary – just bring your willingness to play and have fun!

Hacking & Cybersecurity

Have you ever wanted to be a hacker? Or wanted to learn how to code? On the Internet these days, it's important to understand how hackers work, so you can stay safe from them. In this specialty camp, you will learn how to hack through fun coding (and code-breaking) games. You’ll learn about the three main methods hackers use, hack fake websites we set up, and learn how to stay safe online. Get ready to have fun breaking things!

Students will need Chromebooks or Laptops. Please note: iPads and other tablets do not work for this camp.  

Entrepreneurship

Have you ever wanted to start your own business or website? In this camp for budding entrepreneurs, that’s exactly what you’ll do! You’ll work with a classmate to come up with a simple company idea, taking it as far as it will go before camp ends. You’ll create a business plan, enlist friends and family, and set up everything you need to be a junior entrepreneur: a first email address, a basic app or website, and a presentation. Ultimately, you’ll share your idea with friends and family, work hard to get a first customer, and present all your progress to the whole class. You’ll have a ton of fun and accomplish more than you ever have before!

Graphic Design

Interested in drawing, art, or design? In this class, you’ll learn how to use your doodling skills for real, by doing design projects for local nonprofits or small businesses. You will learn how to make professional posters and art that people want to pay for, and you’ll ultimately design posters and ads for real organizations with good causes. Our students' work has been used in ads and online Instagram posts by the Special Olympics, Martha's Kitchen, and local shelters.

Students will need Chromebooks or laptops - iPads are an option but don't work as well.
