Who was your most influential teacher and why?
My most influential teacher was Dr. Gillin. She really taught me to stand up for myself and to share my voice. She also helped me a lot with my anxiety and helped me gain a lot more confidence in myself and my writing.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was engineering. This is because I love to create and design. I also love working with my hands and being able to problem solve and work with others. I also loved my teacher, Dr. B, and the guidance that she gave me as I attempted to pursue a career in architecture.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
I think that my most memorable experiences at Shipley are just simply the times I would spend hanging out with my friends in the LARC or the quad.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
It means having the bravery to do what’s right and the humility to do it with kindness and respect.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
Shipley has prepared me to face challenges with confidence, think critically, and lead with integrity.

How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
Shipley has encouraged me to take risks by creating a supportive environment where trying new things, speaking up, and pushing myself outside my comfort zone are valued more than just getting things perfect.

Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
As a faculty child and a lifer, Shipley has always been a second home to me. My time at Shipley shaped who I am today. It’s been a place where I’ve grown academically, built strong relationships, and learned the importance of character and leadership. Through challenges and successes, I’ve learned to believe in myself and stay true to my values.
