Akinwole “Aki” Garrett ’00

Aki attended Shipley from 3rd grade to 12th grade. His sister, Ankanke ’99, is a Non-Graduate Alumna of Shipley. Aki was All-School Vice President, a member of the Executive Council, and performed as the Gator, among many other extracurriculars. He joined the Alumni Council in 2020 and co-chairs the Council’s Alumni Engagement Committee.
Akinwole (Aki) Garrett, class of ’00, is currently Vice President, Head of Business Development at REVOLT Media and TV, which is owned by world-renowned music and lifestyle mogul Sean "Puffy" Combs. Previously, Aki has held various positions at the intersection of technology, media and telecom, having worked as an M&A Associate in the Technology, Media and Telecom investment banking group at Barclay’s Capital, then pivoting into digital media business development leadership roles at ABC News, CBS, and SHE Media, and most recently as the Head of Global Strategic Telco Alliances and Business Development at Lenovo. Aki earned a BSBA in Finance, Accounting and International Business from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Aki currently resides in Apex, North Caroline with his wife and three children.
