Who was your most influential teacher and why?
Dr. Gillin was my most influential teacher. I was feeling very insecure about my history writing and writing in general, she ensured me that after taking her class, I would feel good about my writing. She always made time to meet with me when I needed help or further explanation and clarification on the topic we were learning. She was my most influential teacher because she helped me gain confidence in my writing and always helped me feel supported.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was my senior year English seminars. They were my favorite classes because I was able to read books that I would have never thought to read on my own time. It was also my favorite class because I was able to take two classes that were very different within the same school year.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experiences at Shipley were the fourth grade field trips and the Bagels and Biographies project in third grade.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing means starting something meaningful that you enjoy, especially when it is difficult or intimidating, and doing it in a way where you carry yourself in a positive manner (with confidence, kindness, humility, and patience).

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
Shipley has prepared me to be comfortable with stepping out of my comfort zone, even when it's hard.

How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
Shipley has encouraged me to take risks by offering me opportunities during my time in high school that made me take risks. Whether it was taking a class, playing a sport, or joining a club, all of those things encouraged me to take risks even when they were out of my comfort zone.

Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
It's difficult to put into words my 14 years at Shipley. Shipley helped me grow into the person I have become and taught me what it is like to be a part of tight-knit community. I have made everlasting friendships and memories that I will always cherish. I will forever be grateful for my time and experience at Shipley.
