Who was your most influential teacher and why?
Doc Rebholz was my most influential teacher. He taught me Precalculus and Macroeconomics. Math was a very difficult subject for me, but he was consistently kind, patient, and encouraging. Macroeconomics is something I am very interested in, as I am off to take similar classes in college. It is also something Doc is very experienced and knowledgeable in, so his teaching and guidance were extremely enjoyable.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class is a tie between Macroeconomics and Modern American Women. Macro whetted my palate for college and provided me with some general necessary knowledge for my future. It also encouraged me to think outside the box about business situations and trends. Modern American Women was an amazing class that highlighted the very real gender oppression in our society today as well as the past. More importantly, it highlighted the amazing accomplishments women have made and the paths they have blazed.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experience at Shipley was weightlifting. Because of the incredible guidance of Sergio Jackson and my eagerness to succeed as an athlete, every day in the weight room was memorable.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
Having the bravery to step outside your comfort zone, especially in the classroom. At the same time, being patient with yourself when mistakes or setbacks occur.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
Go into college with confidence.

How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
By allowing test corrections, I was able to take harder classes without having too much of a hit to my GPA.

Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
Shipley impacted me in good ways and bad. I am thankful that I grew tremendously as a student and as a person during these four years, as it allowed me to turn the bad into learning opportunities. Looking back when I was a new student as a Freshman feels like so long ago, but it is very true that the years go quickly. I know that Shipley had such a positive impact in my schooling career, as I am extremely sad to be ending classes in a few short days. The greatest part about Shipley are the teachers and staff. I have not had one class in my entire time at Shipley that I dread going to because of the teacher. I am able to hold engaging and interesting conversations with all of my teachers. They are always willing and able to provide extra help when I need it. In the hallways, even with teachers I have not even have, I can always stop to say hi or catch up with a faculty member. Shipley is truly the definition of the people make the place.
