Who was your most influential teacher and why?
Dr. Richard was my most influential teacher at Shipley, and I had him all four years of Upper School. He was my math teacher in 9th grade, history teacher from 10th-12th grades, and also an advisor for DECA and mock trial. He greatly helped me improve my historical writing and analysis skills throughout the years I had him. His classes are interesting and engaging and have helped prepare me for college more than any other classes I've taken at Shipley. Dr. Richard made me a more critical thinker, an improved writer, a more effective debater, and an overall better student.
What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class at Shipley was Calculus Honors with Mr. Frankel. He is a really good teacher and brings humor into the class, which made the subject surprisingly interesting. The people in my class also created a really good class dynamic that made me always look forward to going. The class had a perfect balance of learning and fun, which is why I really enjoyed it.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experience at Shipley was meeting my acorn for the first time, after years of watching the classes ahead of me get to experience that special bond. It was amazing to get to know my acorn over the course of senior year, and it led me to reflect on how far we've all come since we were kindergarteners!
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
Shipley's motto means to be brave enough to take risks to make changes for the good, with kindness and respect for others.

Shipley has encouraged me to take risks by providing a nurturing, supportive environment that focuses on the importance of being brave enough to take risks, rather than on the outcome.
Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what iy meant to you.
I came to Shipley in 8th grade during the COVID pandemic. I enrolled a week before school started, and I had no idea what to expect from the school. In my first week at Shipley, I found how welcoming everyone in the community is, and I made what I believe will be lifelong friendships. The teachers at Shipley genuinely cared about my success both inside the classroom and out, and pushed me to become my best self. Through Shipley, I found my best friends and became a more well-rounded person.
