Who was your most influential teacher and why?
My Spanish teacher, Ms. Smith, was my most influential teacher because she showed that she cared about me as a student and not just my grades in her class. She created an environment that I felt comfortable in, and she celebrated my accomplishments like they were her own.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was Creative Writing with Ms. Gearhart because it strengthened my critical thinking and taught me ways to express my creativity in writing. I enjoyed the ability to write freely and not feel restricted when writing.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
All of the memories I made playing on the varsity soccer team from my freshman to senior year.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
Courage for the Deed means being brave enough to take action and do the right thing even when it is difficult. Grace for the Doing means carrying out that action with respect and kindness. How people do things is just as important as what they do.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
face complicated challenges with confidence and desire by helping me grow into a more resilient and confident person with a positive attitude.

How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
Shipley has encouraged me to take risks by creating an environment in which I felt comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone.

Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
During my time at Shipley, I made friendships that have lasted 10 years, and met some of my best friends. Shipley taught me to be comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone. I also learned many things I will use in more than just school and academics, but in many aspects of life.
