The Shipley School is proud to announce that after an extensive search, Eva Winiarski has been named Head Varsity Girls' Lacrosse Coach. She brings a wealth of teaching, playing, and coaching experience to Shipley, most recently as the Assistant Lacrosse Coach and Defensive Coordinator at The McDonough School in Maryland. In the classroom, Eva will join Shipley’s exceptional English Department as an Upper School teacher.
 
While at McDonough, Coach Winiarski worked closely with Head Coach Taylor Cummings to sustain and build upon one of the most successful and competitive high school lacrosse programs in the country, which included a 2019 IAAM championship and 2018, 2021 IAAM championship play (second place). Many of the seniors graduating from McDonough have continued their lacrosse careers at Maryland, UNC, Duke, Boston College, Stanford, William & Mary, Elon, Syracuse, Harvard, and USC, and she was instrumental in that process. Additionally, Eva has been the Head Coach of the Varsity Field Hockey team since 2020, coaching two all-conference selected players, as well as making it to the semi-final playoff round. Beyond McDonough, Eva coached at the Baltimore Stix FH club for two seasons.
 
A native of Downingtown, PA, Winiarski graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English in 2017. During her time at Drexel, she played club field hockey and was a four-year letter winner on the Varsity Lacrosse team, including being named second team All-CAA in her junior and senior seasons. Eva was also named captain in her senior year. 
 
Coach Winiarski stated, “I am thrilled to join Shipley as the head girls’ lacrosse coach. Thank you to Athletic Director Justin Cooper and his staff for their enthusiasm and trust in my leadership. I believe that it is a privilege to work with and grow student athletes, and I could not be more humbled to continue building on the successful culture of this program.”
