On January 28-29, seventeen Shipley Middle School Squash players descend onto the National Squash Center in Philadelphia to compete in the 2023 Middle School National Squash Championships.
From Shipley's most experienced squash player through to sixth graders who were in their first-ever Nationals appearance, all students represented themselves, their families, Shipley, and each other with respect, grace, humility, and undeniable sportsmanship both on and off the court.
Shipley's Boys A team, led by Coach Dominic Benacquista, competed in four amazing matches, beating the number five seed along the way to win the consolation draw and finishing in 9th place in both Division I and the country.
Shipley's Boys B team (the first time in Shipley history we have entered two Middle School boys’ teams) led by Coach Nan Bussey '86, pulled out some big upsets throughout the weekend to finish 7th in Division 2, placing the B team 23rd in the country.
Shipley's Girls A team played outstanding squash from start to finish, beating some great teams and having a lot of close 3-2 matches to finish 8th in Division 2 and placing them 20th in the country.
