What attracted you to Shipley?
Shipley is an incredible community to be a part of with committed student-athletes and staff who strive towards excellence on and off the field.

How/why did you get into Field Hockey?
I played soccer, basketball, and field hockey from a young age and into varsity programs in high school. I was recruited for all three sports, but found the best educational and Olympic platform opportunities with field hockey at Duke. It is an incredible sport with fun, fast-paced action that really drew me into loving the game every chance I got to play. I have now moved that same passion and love for the game into my coaching career.

What is your coaching philosophy or style?
My coaching philosophy comprises three components. The first is to create a place where athletes can learn and love the game while developing fundamental and elite-level skills in the sport. Second, the one thing that an athlete can control is their effort, which does not require skill, and will allow them to reach their full potential in the sport. Finally, caring for the team is an important part of this dynamic sport where connection is mandatory to be successful as a team.

How would you describe Shipley student-athletes and Shipley athletics?
The Shipley players are eager to learn and work hard in the sport. It is an environment where we strive to learn, grow, and compete while enjoying the game together.

Do you have any sports heroes or inspirations? If so, who are they and why?
Mia Hamm and the full 1999 World Cup Soccer team have always been my major inspiration in sports. They set the stage for female athletes to reach incredible goals in sports!

What do you do for fun?
I enjoy time with my dog, Beau. I really enjoy drinking coffee at local shops and reading!

Fun Fact:
I am also seeking my Master's in Clinical Counseling at Eastern University so that I can use it to aid the athletes I work with at the club and high school levels in their mental performance areas of the game.
