Who was your most influential teacher and why?
My most influential teacher was Dr. Gillin. I had never really been that interested in history before, but she made the class so interesting and enjoyable that I am now fascinated by it.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experience was swamp night. It was a really good time and had a nice sense of school spirit.

What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
It means that Shipley should provide its students with the ambition to do what they are capable of, and acknowledge them for their achievements as they do it.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
…work diligently and make connections in life as I enter the real world.

Reflections on your time at Shipley:
Shipley has given me the confidence to know that I can achieve what I want if I work hard. It has done this by creating classes that reward you if you put in the work, something that I've noticed throughout my two years here. This will be very important in college, as I will be focused on developing and maintaining a good work ethic. The School has also given me opportunities to take risks (and rewarded those risks), such as trying out a new sport junior year and becoming the captain of it the following year.

Shipley has had a significant impact on my life. It has led me to become a more self-actualized person. I cannot remember any specific "Aha moments" but I can say for sure that I have learned and improved significantly since I came here. I have joined a community of wonderful friends and teachers, one that has led me down a productive and positive path. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a community like this.
