Who was your most influential teacher and why?
I wouldn't say there was a specific teacher who influenced me but all of them together. All the teachers I have had over the years have qualities that I want to have myself.
What was your favorite class and why?
Psychology of Madness. My junior year when I was researching schools and majors, I came across psychology and realized it was something I had always been interested in. When I saw Shipley offered a course, I knew I should take it. It became my favorite class because my friends in the class made the experience ten times better. Mr. Clement is also an amazing teacher who made class engaging and made me want to learn and ask questions.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experience at Shipley was being able to grow up alongside my best friends. During my time, I learned the true meaning of friendship and what qualities I want to have in a friend. I was lucky enough to have the past 10 years with my best friend always by my side.
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing means having the strength to take on challenges, even when they feel intimidating, and handling those moments with kindness, patience, and humility. It’s about stepping up when it counts, but also remembering that how you carry yourself through the process matters just as much as the outcome. It’s a reminder to be bold in action, but thoughtful in how you move through the world.
Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to…
Shipley has prepared me to face challenges with confidence, lead with compassion, and continue growing both as a student and as a person.
How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
Being a small community, Shipley has taught me to step outside my comfort zone and put myself out there. I am already an outgoing individual, but the small community has allowed me to speak up, speak out, and be myself.
Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
Shipley has been so much more than just a school for me—it’s been a place where I grew, not just academically, but personally. Over these years, I learned how to challenge myself, step outside my comfort zone, and find confidence in my voice. The relationships I built with teachers and friends here shaped me into the person I am today. Whether it was through classes, clubs, service, or just everyday moments in the hallways, Shipley taught me the importance of community, resilience, and showing up for others. As I get ready for what’s next, I know I’ll carry these lessons with me. I’ll always be grateful for the experiences and memories that Shipley was able to provide for me.
