On July 1, 2025, Shipley finalized the acquisition of the College Hall apartment complex, a strategic property located at the corner of Montgomery and Morris Avenues. The purchase marks a milestone in the School’s long-term campus vision, consolidating Shipley’s footprint within nearly all of the “four corners” bordered by Montgomery Avenue, Morris Avenue, North Merion Avenue, and Yarrow Street—excluding land owned by Bryn Mawr College.

“This is an extraordinary moment in Shipley’s history,” wrote Head of School Ian Craig and Chair of the Board of Trustees Colin Kelton in a joint announcement to the community. “With this acquisition, we are not only securing a critical piece of land, but we are also investing in the continued growth and evolution of The Shipley School—for our current students and generations to come.”

While plans for the site are still being developed, the Board has established a Campus Planning Task Force, chaired by trustee Devin Aronstam, P’23, ’25, ’27, to lead a comprehensive planning process. The Task Force will assess campus needs, engage with the community, and create a strategic vision for how the new property can best support Shipley’s mission and future.
